01Who we are

Icon is operated by Beauty Icon ("we", "us", "our"), a skincare brand trading at beautyicon.com.pk. In these terms, "Icon" means the AI skin consultation assistant available on our website, and "you" means the person using it.

By ticking the consent box and starting a consultation, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Icon.

02Icon is not a medical service

This is the most important section on this page.

Specifically, Icon does not and cannot:

• Diagnose any skin condition, disease, or disorder
• Replace an examination by a dermatologist, physician, or any qualified healthcare professional
• Detect skin cancer, infection, or any other medical condition
• Provide medical advice, prescriptions, or treatment plans
• Tell you whether a mark, mole, lesion, or symptom is harmless or serious

Icon describes observable cosmetic characteristics — texture, tone, oiliness, visible breakouts — and matches them to products. That is a fundamentally different activity from clinical assessment, and a photograph is a poor substitute for examination in any case. Lighting distorts colour, cameras flatten texture, and many conditions that look similar in a photo require examination, history, or testing to tell apart.

When Icon will stop

Icon is built to refuse rather than guess. If it observes anything that appears to fall outside ordinary cosmetic concerns — an irregular mole or growth, signs of infection, severe cystic acne, a widespread rash, broken skin, or anything involving the eye — it will tell you to see a dermatologist and will recommend no product at all.

This is a safety mechanism, not a complete one. Icon may fail to flag something that needs attention. Never treat the absence of a warning as reassurance.

Known limitations

We think you should know these rather than discover them:

• AI skin analysis is less accurate on deeper skin tones. Most training data over-represents lighter skin. Since our customers are predominantly Fitzpatrick III–VI, this is a real limitation that affects most people using Icon. We test for it, but we cannot eliminate it.
• Icon can be wrong. It may see concerns that are not there, or miss ones that are.
• Photo quality changes the outcome. Poor lighting, filters, makeup, or a bad angle can produce a misleading result.
• Icon only knows our catalogue. If the right product for you is one we do not sell, Icon will say so — but it cannot recommend competitors' products.

03Who may use Icon

You must be 18 years or older to use Icon. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

You may only upload photographs of yourself. Do not upload photographs of another person, including your child, partner, friend, or client, even with their permission. We have no way to verify consent for a face that is not yours, and doing so may breach that person's privacy rights.

04Acceptable use

Icon is for skin and skincare questions. When using it, you agree not to:

• Upload images that are not of skin, or that are sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate
• Attempt to make Icon produce content unrelated to skincare, or to bypass its instructions or safeguards
• Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to interact with Icon
• Attempt to access another user's consultations, history, or photographs
• Use Icon to provide advice to others as though it were professional guidance
• Overwhelm, probe, or interfere with the service or the systems behind it

We may restrict or withdraw access where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached.

05What we collect, and what happens to it

What we keep depends entirely on whether you are signed in, and on choices you make.

Without an account

Nothing is stored. Your photograph is sent for analysis, held in memory only for as long as the analysis takes, and discarded. Your messages are not written to any database. When you close the page, there is no record that the conversation happened, and no way for us or anyone else to retrieve it.

We do keep a short-lived, automated record of network addresses in order to limit how often the service can be used from one connection. This is used only to prevent abuse, is not linked to your identity, and is not used for any other purpose.

With an account

If you are signed in to your beautyicon.com.pk account, you can choose to save your consultation so you can track how your skin changes over time. If you do:

Photographs are opt-in, never automatic. Saving your consultation text does not save your photographs. You have to ask for that separately, each session, and you can change your mind afterwards.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your photographs to train AI models, and we do not permit our processors to do so.

06Who else sees your data

Icon is built on services provided by other companies. To make it work, limited data passes through them:

Your data leaves Pakistan

Google's AI processing and our other providers operate servers outside Pakistan. By using Icon, you consent to your photograph and messages being transferred and processed abroad. These providers operate under their own privacy terms and the laws of their jurisdictions, which may differ from Pakistani law.

If you are not comfortable with this, please do not upload a photograph. You can still describe your skin in words — Icon works from a description alone, and that text is also processed abroad but contains no image of you.

07Your rights over your data

If you have an account, you can at any time:

• See everything we hold from your consultations
• Delete any single consultation, or your entire history, immediately
• Delete photographs while keeping the consultation text, or the reverse
• Withdraw consent for future storage, so later consultations are not saved

Deletion is deletion. When you delete a consultation, it is removed from our active systems immediately and from backups within 30 days. It is not recoverable.

08Security

We protect saved consultations with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls limiting who can view stored data, and automatic deletion once the retention period passes.

We take this seriously, particularly because photographs of faces are sensitive. But no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that stored data will never be accessed improperly. If you would rather not take that risk, use Icon without saving your history — it works exactly the same way.

If a breach occurs affecting your data, we will tell you as promptly as we reasonably can and explain what happened.

09Product recommendations

Icon recommends products from our own catalogue. We have a commercial interest in you buying them, and you should read its suggestions with that in mind.

What we do to keep that honest: Icon is built so that it cannot invent products we do not sell, cannot recommend items that are out of stock, and will tell you plainly when we do not make something suitable for your concern rather than substituting something we do sell.

Recommendations are suggestions, not guarantees. Skincare results vary between people, and a product that helps one person may not help you. Prices shown are current at the time of your consultation and may change.

Patch testing and reactions

Always patch test a new product before applying it broadly. Stop using anything that causes irritation, burning, or a reaction, and seek medical attention if a reaction is severe.

Some products carry specific cautions — retinoids are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and certain active ingredients should not be layered. Icon will ask about this where relevant, but you should read the product label and consult a professional if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or have an existing skin condition.

10Limits on our liability

Icon is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Beauty Icon is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of Icon, including any decision you make on the basis of what it tells you, any delay in seeking professional medical advice, or any reaction to a product it suggests.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

11Changes

We may update these terms as Icon develops or as the law changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Where changes are significant, we will make that clear before your next consultation. Continuing to use Icon after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
